In 1955, Emmett Till—a young African-American from Chicago—was brutally murdered in Mississippi. His shocking and violent death—at the age of fourteen—brought national attention to racial injustice and the dire need for civil rights reform. In 2022, director Chinonye Chukwu released a new film entitled Till. Chukwu’s film focuses on the mother of Emmett Till, telling the story of Mamie Till-Mobley’s quest for justice following the death of her son.
